LAMA JAMPA

ABOUT THE TEACHINGS

Rime – The Inclusivist Approach

The Rime or ‘boundaryless’ movement began in the 19 century. It was not a new school but rather a move away from the narrow mindedness of sectarian rivalry and  a recognition of the power inherent in the teachings of all the major Tibetan Buddhist traditions.
Lama Jampa will guide us through the Three Vehicles that are common to all the major schools of Tibetan Buddhism and explain how the Rime spirit is so important for the proper development of Tibetan dharma in the West today. Lama Jampa will also focus on the three major figures who introduced the Rime movement: the Sakyapa Jamyang Khyentse Wangpo; the Kagyupa Jamgon Kongtrul Lodro Thaye; and the Nyingmapa terton Chogyur Dechen Lingpa.

Rangtong and Shentong

In this teaching, Lama Jampa will explore the highest view regarding the true nature of mind and reality, the Middle Way View (Skt. Madhyamaka).  A correct understanding of the view is essential to the development of meditative realization in both the ordinary (Paramitayana) and extraordinary (Vajrayana) meditative practices of Buddhism.  Lama Jampa will illustrate the profundity of the view through delineating two subtly different presentations, the view of intrinisic emptiness (Rangtong) and the view of extrinsic emptiness (Shentong).  Great Buddhist masters in Tibetan spiritual history have held either one or the other position.

ABOUT LAMA JAMPA THAYE

Sad News — The passing of Tashi, the E.C. Bodhi-Cat

December 16, 2012 by

With sadness, we inform you that the beautiful and devoted white cat who lived with Lama Kunga Rinpoche, has passed on.  He was apparently the victim of a motorist as his body was found in the middle of Cambridge Street, not far from home.  In addition to his own outdoor adventures, Tashi frequently attended meditations, empowerments, and tsoks in the shrine room. He was loved by everyone and shared his affection in return. We pray for his quick rebirth in the human realm where he can meet gurus and continue on the Bodhisattva path.

Passing of a dear friend of EC

January 21, 2012 by

It is with great sadness that Ewam Choden announces the passing of Wolfgang Saumweber.
Wolf succumbed to cancer this morning January 21st.

Wolf was a student of Lama Kunga Rinpoche and a great friend and supporter of our community. A dedicated dharma practitioner, he particularly benefited our Center by working with Lama Kunga Rinpoche on the editing of sadhanas. His elaborate and colorful layouts are now the standard for EC sadhanas.

Wolf also created and maintained Ewam Choden’s first website and generously established numerous Vajrayana websites

Wolfgang will be greatly missed.

We ask for your prayers to assist him during this transition, and may all the great works he performed bring benefit to him,  his wife Linda, and his family.
